Shipping React Native at production scale for a decade.
I'm Mohamad Shafaat Khan — a mobile architect who owns platforms end to end: app, BFF, and the pipeline in between. Currently building the mobile + backend-for-frontend layer for AtHome's commerce app on GCP.
Release history
8 roles · 2015 – presentAtHome — Sogeti / Capgemini
Own the mobile platform and GCP-hosted BFF for AtHome's e-commerce app: SFCC integration, App Engine deployment lifecycle, PayPal-via-WebView, feature flags, and the monorepo underneath it. Lead a 10-person offshore team across React Native, Node.js, SFCC, and QA.
SunPower Corporation
Built the dealer quoting app from zero: geofencing, Docusign, Qualtrics surveys, dynamic content and feature flags. Led 13 engineers across onshore, nearshore, and offshore.
Anderson Trucking Service
Delivered the ATS Freight Match app from 1.0.0 through 1.1.0 — load search, booking, live tracking, and payment status, with SSL pinning and biometric auth. Led 7 engineers.
Isobar / EHI
Shipped features across Enterprise and Alamo's car rental apps — IBM prepay integration, Adobe Target A/B testing, dynamic feature flags, and a migration to React Native 0.64. Led 6 nearshore engineers.
First Tech Federal Credit Union
Built and hardened the banking app through three React Native version migrations (0.54 → 0.61.5), meeting OWASP mobile risk and ADA compliance standards. Led 4 onshore and 4 offshore developers.
Globaleur
Developed and deployed a travel app on React Native with a fully serverless AWS backend — Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS — including Stripe and PayPal payments.
VCE
Built an internal hybrid app for monitoring Agile teams, plus log analysis and audit tooling on the ELK stack.
Big Data Indus
Built a native iOS dashboard for monitoring Big Data server statistics — early ground in Swift, Core Data, and MapKit.
The lab
what this site runs onThis is where I test what it feels like to own the whole stack instead of renting it — running inference locally, exploring GPU rental and fine-tuning as their own small businesses, and treating the home lab as a real second workbench, not a side toy.
Research & papers
IEEE · ResearchGateA bit about me
I'm based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and I've spent close to a decade making sure the app in someone's hand actually works — through banking security scans, dealer geofencing, freight tracking, and checkout flows that can't afford to fail.
My background isn't only mobile. I came up through BI and data — MySQL, Tableau, Alteryx, predictive modeling — and I hold an MS in Software Engineering from San Jose State University. That data instinct still shows up in how I think about release health, monitoring, and what a "good" deployment actually looks like.
Outside of shipping code, I play cricket with my team, Woodbridge, I'm learning Urdu — a path that started with Mirza Ghalib's poetry — and I've got a long-running soft spot for classic South Asian cinema and underdog stories.
I want the apps I build to disappear — no crash, no lag, no reason to think about the plumbing at all. That's the whole job, as far as I'm concerned.
